After our reflection last week of what guiding principles we needed to work on Bailey, Sophie and Kaitlyn went to meet with Mrs Cavanagh to share our ideas.  The feedback was: Bailey shared back (the meeting with Mrs Cavanagh) to the e-team regarding our Maori Perspective thoughts for the next up in coming Hui.
We would be asking for their help in:
·      Artwork – any ideas to put up around the school that reflect our school (sustainable visual art) – need materials/guidance.
Our suggestions are : Maungaraki tree made out of carving and shells/paint.  Legends/stories/heritage and history reflections.

·      Noho Marae – can anyone/whanau help us with karanga/whaikarero. Crafts like weaving, cooking hungi, games such as knucklebones/string games.

Mrs Cavanagh and Mrs Sutherland to set a Hui date – some kids are keen to attend the meeting.  Powerpoint presentation by Alistair and Deepak to design to share what we think.

2.Lunchbox Challenge 17-21 September is the date.  Need to make posters to help advertise.  Get into classrooms to talk what we trying to do (reduce plastic wrappers/bags into our general trash)

3. VSA – finished.  Sold most of the bracelets, will package them up and send them off.  Girls will count the $ and let Mrs S know.

Tuesday 14th August 2012

Today in Enviro we were going through how we could make our Maori culture better because this was the one thing our school was low in. To make this better we are going to be doing some trips to the Marae. There we will ask them what sort of art we could do around our school and some Maori plants that we could plant to make our school have more of a Maori culture. We also had lots of other ideas that will be up on our blog soon.
